No one left ‘high and dry’ by Sama collapse

No passengers booked to travel with Sama were left “high and dry” by the Saudi budget carrier following the airline’s collapse in August, said Asim Arshad, CEO of Orient Travel which acts as GSA (General Sales Agent) for the carrier in the UAE. Many passengers were due to travel back from Umrah pilgrimages in Saudi Arabia with Sama, druing the peak Ramadan season, when the airline was forced to cease business on August 24 following heavy losses.

Effective September 26, Al-Gurayat Airport will be closed for three months for maintenance, said Sulaiman Bin Rabah Al-Thubaiti, the regional airport’s director.
Scheduled flights will be diverted to Turaif Airport, which is 150 kilometers away from Al-Gurayyat, said Al-Thubaiti, who added that the temporary closure is part of the plan for maintaining the airport’s 3,050-meter runway and its entrance.
