‘Negative publicity from CWG could hit Emaar India operations’

He attributed the delay in developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Rabigh to the global economic crisis and some organizational matters. “KAEC is a huge city covering 168 million square meters and is bigger than Washington and Dubai. It cannot be established within a day or two,” the SAGIA chief said. He said the successful measures taken by the Kingdom to overcome economic crisis and the formation of an authority by the government would support economic cities.

No one left ‘high and dry’ by Sama collapse
No passengers booked to travel with Sama were left “high and dry” by the Saudi budget carrier following the airline’s collapse in August, said Asim Arshad, CEO of Orient Travel which acts as GSA (General Sales Agent) for the carrier in the UAE. Many passengers were due to travel back from Umrah pilgrimages in Saudi Arabia with Sama, druing the peak Ramadan season, when the airline was forced to cease business on August 24 following heavy losses.
SEC to provide 600MW to power Haramain Railway
The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) will provide 600MW to the Haramain Railway linking the two holy cities of Mecca and Medina with Jeddah. Transport Minister and Chairman of the Saudi Railway Organisation (SRO) Jabara Al-Seraisry said the SEC will power the 450 kilometre high-speed railway as well as its stations at King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh and Madinah.
